Digital Retinal Imaging
As the saying goes..."A picture is worth a thousand words," and that can't be anymore true when dealing with your eye health. Our state of the art digital retinal camera captures clear images of the back of the eye without being dilated. These images give Dr. Wilkens a wealth of information about your eyes AND your overall health status. Early changes due to high blood pressure, high cholesterol and even diabetes can be detected by looking at the back of the eye. The images can then be compared to each other over time to see any progression or changes. This is an invaluable tool that has advanced our standard of care.
